Excellent piece of kit. Easy to use with hand drill; plenty of torque and produces a 2” dia , 6”+ deep hole for bulb planting . Impressive
Excellent product, just make sure drill is going really slow.
Great product certainly helps with the compacted soil in my garden
Great product, works well in my lawn, used it to drill holes to fill up with sharp sand to help drainage
Was not sure before ordering , but I must say very impressed with the way it quickly drills out a hole for planting the flowers , have not hit large stones as yet time will tell how it handles them , but I would recommend it
I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He hasn't used it yet. But product came very quickly, looks strong,he's looking forward to trying it out when he starts planting
This gadget was a huge help when we had 120 daffodil bulbs to plant, although it didn't work in quite the way I expected. I thought it would create a nice tidy hole in which I could plop a bulb, but it simply loosened the soil so I could dig it out easily with a trowel. Even though it didn't do what I expected, it still made a daunting job a lot easier and I would recommend it - 120 bulbs planted in about an hour. The only other warning is that I had to hold the drill with both hands and be careful, because if the auger got stuck, the drill would whizz round and nearly wrench my shoulder or wrist.
Used this to plant 25 drivers to thicken up an old hedge. Very effective, but have to grip right due to our clay soil, is If it sticks there is of course lots of torque. Highly recommended but use carefully.
I used a 50mm auger more than this 75mm auger but it is very sturdy and strong and coped very well with the stoney ground. As other reviewers have mentioned, though, be ready for the torque when you hit a large stone or root!! All in all, a very good product which looks like it will last a good few seasons.
its very well made and works well on really solid ground but you need to have a handle attachment as it jumps all over the place.luckily my husband's drill has one so it was fairly easy to do once you got used to it.Need to make sure you are on slow speed or you could burn out the motor.
It a good sturdy drill but it does not work. It keeps slipping on minimum resistance so does NOT dig a hole.
Brilliant drill which works very, very efficiently and is of solid construction. My advise is to use a corded electric drill other than a battery powered one as this will provide much better torque or if you like,"twisting" power.
I used the digger attached to my old Black & Decker drill to help dig a small pond. It worked just as I had hoped and made the task much easier, even in my very stony garden.PS. I have marked five stars in response to all three questions, although I have to say that I don’t understand the meaning of “sheerness”.
I have only used this a couple of times and as I suffer with back problems it certainly makes the job a lot easier, some reviews have said it,s not strong enough for the tougher soil but if you use it like an ordinary drill bit like pulling the bit in and out it does the job o.k.........it,s a tool not a magic tool.
just what was needed .
We have really hard clay and I thought I would give it a punt, goes into the hard clay like butter. Very pleasantly suprised
I expected the drill to struggle a bit in hardened soil but it went through it like a hot knife through butter! Managed to plant flower bulbs with so much ease and in record time! Just what I needed.
Love this product it digs holes aggressively, perfect for planting out. Also mincing weeds
Excellent piece of kit makes work of digging for plants piece of kishhh.Very solidly made and happy wigh purchase as done a great job
As an elderly person I liked that I could use it myself.I used it for erecting small fences in my garden and I hope to do many more small jobs, like planting, around the garden.
Excellent peace of kit if you are interested in gardening this is a must have no backbreaking digging with this at all.I have heavy semi clay soil with Cotswold stone mixed in for good luck and the drill bit just made my life so much easier.Your be very happy with this without any doubt. ???? one very happy customer
This item is wonderful. So easy to use and effective. So easy to plant plants and bulbs. Have purchased more of different sizes
I used this to drill some holes for some 50 x 50 mm posts for a small retaining wall. The soil was very compacted, sandy soil with loads of large stones, old bricks and flint. It doesn't leave a neat hole straight away as if drilling in wood, but loosens the soil and chucks it about so that you can then scope out the detritus easily. What's left is a perfect hole in the soil, perfect for the post! Would have taken an age digging by hand, but this allowed me to get a post in position in about 10 minutes.
That made life a lot easier. I have a lot of stones in my soil so hammering a spike in the ground doesn’t work. This drill bit, with a little of digging stones out by hand, made it easy
Great product.I use this tool in the garden for planting bulbs also cultivating the soil.Would recommend this to any Gardner.
Parts of our garden are rock hard and planting has been a nightmare in the past. This is an absolute boon. It tackles tough ground fearlessly and more amenable earth like a dream. You need to be quite strong to control it on hard ground but we've found it a fantastic addition to the toolshed.
Great help at bulb planting time and smaller post holes but remember goggles etc can throw up stones and always have a firm hold on drill glad I bought it
Useful tool. I have stoney ground with some clay so had low expectations but the tool coped pretty well. Made short work of digging about a dozen holes for new planting. Size and depth of the holes is obviously limited to the width and length of the drill bit so think about the root base size of what you are planting
As an 87yr old I used it to dig holes to plant small plants and saved my back a lot of hard work !
Did an excellent job on a stony patch when planting bulbs and moving plants.
Good product and good price and really good delivery service.
The days of using traditional bulb planters are now over for me. Planting a big sack of daffodils used to take hours, with this kind of auger that time is slashed. With that in mind this one is for planting potatoes as well. It was the lowest price 3" with long 11" depth I could find.
I used the 4 cm ground drill for planting daffodil bulbs using a standard dreill chuck with an 8mm capacity chuck. The drill worked well on heavy clay soil providing I restricted the drills forward speed and thus the drill torque. A great product that I would recommend.
Can be difficult to get the fitting straight but patience is key
Very Happy with this tool has saved me hours of digging. Depending on type of ground, some times you have to clear the hole by hand trowel.I managed to plant 300 + bulbs in four hours.I have used on larger holes by boring multiple holes then clearing loose spoil with a spade.100% recommend
Did the job perfectly, used it to dig holes to plant hedges
Pleased with this product. My soil is clay so quite hard to dig using a towel. The garden drill tool made it really easy to make holes for planting bulbs.
Heat tool I planted 300 bulbs in two hours as apposed to two days
Loved this drill bit
Brought as a present and they love it
Exactly what I ordered and arrived quicker than expected - ideal for planting small bulbs. Very happy with the product.
This garden augur copes well with compacted and/or stony soil. It doesn't cope with tree roots, but it's not meant to. The spindle (for the drill chuck) was not precisely in-line with the augur part, so there was a bit of front-end wobble...but for £13 I wasn't expecting military standard engineering! This is a surprisingly useful addition to my gardening tool kit.
Used to drill some holes to plant some plants - worked fine
Did just as expected. Good product
